LPA to bring rains over parts of the country, NDRRMC urges counterparts and public not to be complacent

A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted 185 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur as of 3:00PM today, will bring rains to some parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported in a Pre-Disaster Assessment (PDRA) meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) held today 3 October 2021.
The LPA is forecast to develop into a tropical depression within 48 hours and will bring moderate to heavy rains over CARAGA region, Davao region, and Southern Leyte in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau added.
Support for Nationwide Online Quake Drill doubles on 3rd Quarter, 57K join online drill

Around 57,000 viewers simultaneously joined the Third Quarter Online Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) conducted by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Thursday at 8:00A.M.
Various organizations from government offices, private sector, academe, Non-Governmental Organizations and Civil Society organizations participated in the said drill.
NDRRMC calls for vigilance, preparedness for TY JOLINA

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) urges the public to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures as Typhoon JOLINA brings heavy rainfall and destructive winds to areas of Luzon and Visayas.
In a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment meeting this morning, regional DRRMCs are reminded to continue monitoring weather updates and implement preparedness measures based on the prescribed protocols of the NDRRMC.
NDRRMC concludes 2021 NDRM observance, launches NDRRMP 2020-2030

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council through the Office of Civil Defense concluded the observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) with the official launching of the NDRRM Plan 2020-2030 and the awarding of winners of the NDRM contests today, July 30, 2021.
NDRRMC Executive Director and Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ricardo B. Jalad in his opening remarks thanked the public for its participation in the NDRM activities and expressed his gratitude for the continued advancement of DRRM.
