Striving for a more prepared response mechanism during earthquake and tsunami scenario, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) tabletop and communication exercises (TTCX) on the Manila Trench Movement Earthquake and Tsunami scenario for Central Luzon earlier today.

DRRM Councils of the Province of Zambales, San Antonio Municipality, and Pundaquit Barangay DRRM Committee joined the exercise to test their existing policies, plans, and procedures, to determine and address weak areas in preparedness and response measures as well as to improve organizational interoperability, coordination mechanisms including command and control protocols.

A disaster preparedness webinar for persons with disabilities (PWDs), fisherfolk and victims of calamities organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) gained support online this morning, Nov. 11, 2021.

Pushing for inclusive DRRM, the webinar tackled the importance of disaster preparedness for persons with disabilities, victims of disasters, and fisherfolk to reduce the negative impacts of hazards or disasters to vulnerable populations. “We [PWDs] are in the best position to voice our concerns and identify solutions and resources as we are an integral part of the solution,” Ms. Corazon Bajuyo-Clarin, convenor of the Cebu Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction Network said as she discussed the inclusivity dimension of DRRM.

Pinaaalalahanan ang publiko na mag-ingat, mag-antabay sa ulat panahon, at sumunod sa mga payo ng mga awtoridad ngayong posibleng magsanib sa loob ng 36 oras ang Tropical Storm “Maring” at Tropical Depression “Nando” ayon sa ulat ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) sa Pre-Disaster Assessment meeting ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council ngayong umaga, Sabado.

Bandang alas otso ngayong umaga namataan ang bagyong “Maring” sa layong 860 kilometro sa silangan ng Juban, Sorsogon na may lakas na hanging aabot sa 85 kilometro kada oras at bugsong aabot sa 105 kilometro kada oras. Kumikilos ito sa bilis na 15km kada oras. Namataan naman ang bagyong “Nando” sa layong 670km sa Casiguran, Aurora na nagtataglay ng lakas ng hanging aabot sa 45 kilometro kada oras at bugso ng hanging aabot sa 55 kilometro kada oras. Kumikilos ang bagyo sa bilis na 45km kada oras.
