The Philippine Delegation attends the 9th Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) 2022 in Brisbane, Australia from 19 to 22 September 2022.

This year’s Conference is co-hosted by the Government of Australia and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). This is the largest Asia-Pacific biennial gathering focused on disaster risk reduction, resilience, and the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

With the theme: “From crisis to resilience: Transforming the Asia-Pacific Region’s Future through Disaster Risk Reduction”, the conference has strong links to the outcomes of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR), hosted by Indonesia last May of this year. The APMCDRR will focus these outcomes on the Asia-Pacific Region and its key outcomes will comprise reports summarizing the key insights emerging from the session. This will form critical regional inputs for the Sendai Framework Midterm Review in May 2023.

The Philippine delegation (PhilDel) is composed of representatives from the national government including the Office of Civil Defense led by USec. Raymundo B. Ferrer, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Finance and Department of Environment and Natural Resources headed by Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, who also serves as the Head of Philippine delegation. Meanwhile, representatives from the Philippine private sectors and civil society organizations are also attending the said event.
