The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council will once again hold an online Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for the 1st quarter on March 11, 2021. This is the 3rd online NSED after the conduct of two online drills for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2020,
The NDRRMC through the Office of Civil Defense will launch a series of online activities for the 1st Quarter NSED. A webinar on earthquake preparedness will be held on March 4 and an online quiz bee on March 9. The BidaAngHanda challenge video will be launched also wherein the public is encouraged to share their earthquake preparedness practices.
Aside from the general public as audience, the women, children, youth and students, and senior citizen sectors will be given focus for the 1st quarter NSED information drive.
The program for NSED on March 11 will start at 1:00 p.m. The ceremonial pressing of the button will be held at 2:00 p.m where audiences watching the live stream are encouraged to "duck, cover, and hold" in their houses and offices as the alarm siren. No evacuation drill and scenarios will be conducted in compliance with the minimum public health measures
The OCD will also release various Information, Education, and Communication materials for NSED on Civil Defense PH. The public is encouraged to remain updated on the announcements and educate one's self through informative materials being released on social media pages of OCD and NDRRMC.
