More than 8,000 Family Food Packs (FFPs) were delivered to Eastern Visayas this week to support the ongoing relief efforts for the Typhoon AMBO-affected areas in the Samar provinces.
Office of Civil Defense Region VIII, on Monday (May 18), facilitated the transport of 5,000 requested FFPs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Warehouse in Cebu to Tacloban City.
The said FFPs intended for the affected families in Eastern Samar were transported through the assistance of the Philippine Navy, 546th Engineer Construction Battalion (ECB), 8th Forward Service Support Unit (8FSSU), and the Philippine Army. Earlier that day, 1,500 FFPs were delivered to Borongan Airport via C-130.
OCD VIII also received a total of 1,600 FFPs in Catarman, Northern Samar delivered through a C-130 flight last Sunday (May 17).
OCD Central also assisted in the transportation of 1,200 FFPs from Mactan airport to Catarman via C-130 for distribution to affected communities.
Additional 11,400 FFPs are set to be delivered through civilian or Navy transport in the following days.
