The Office of Civil Defense has started to distribute Personal Protective Equipment suits, face masks, and boxes of bottled water it had procured to assist various hospitals amid the COVID-19 situation.
The agency on Thursday, 26 March 2020, provided 5,000 surgical masks each to East Avenue Medical Center and Philippine Children’s Medical Center, while 500 n95 masks were delivered to Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium.
The Veterans Memorial Medical Center, meanwhile, on Friday, 27 March 2020 received 100 coverall suits, 500 surgical masks and 10 boxes bottled water from the agency. OCD also handed out 400 surgical masks and 100 coverall suits to Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo Station Hospital on the same date.
On Saturday, 28 March 2020, the agency gave 5,000 surgical masks and 50 coverall suits to Philippine Heart Center, 2,000 surgical masks, 500 n95 masks, 100 coverall suits, and 175 bottled water to Lung Center of the Philippines while 10,000 surgical masks and 250 coverall suits were provided to Philippine General Hospital.
Per case bulletin #014 of the Department of Health, 1,075 COVID-19 cases have been recorded. Of which, 68 died while 35 recovered from the disease.
The OCD calls on public to observe precautionary measures in this time of emergency. Observe social distancing, stay at home, do frequent hand washing, and follow other advisories of the authorities.
