Regional DRRMCouncil Chair and OCD 10 Regional Director Ana CCañedacalls the RDRRMC member agencies to address thefire incidentat Mt. Kitanglad on 05 April 2016.
Dir. Cañeda presented the situation, actions taken and interventions of agencies, LGUs and partners since the blaze 3 days ago, in multiple areas, in at least 6 LGUs around the mountain range.
DENR ARD Felix Mirasol elaborated that the fire in at least 8 areas has already affected over 851 hectares, households too at the foot of the range are exposed and at high risk of boulders and glowing embers falling on them as the fire continues to burn down naturally grown trees and vegetation.Forest guard volunteers with BFP municipal station personnel established an 11-kilometer fire line along BrgySongco in Lantapan, and BrgySil-ipon in LibonaBukidnon.
OCD will activate the Regional Incident Management Team of multi-disciplinary professionals trained in Incident Command System (ICS) in response to major and widespread emergencies such as this multiple fires.Immediate needs identified are the provision of firefighting gears, logistics and other support for the volunteers, and aerial support to determine extent of damage in the area.
DENR PAMB will provide for the firefighting gears and other supplies for the volunteers. Agencies who committed its support and augmentation are BFP, DENR, KabalikatCivicom for the communication support, DPWH, TOG 10- PAF, PIA, PRC, DA, DOH, and DSWD among others.
Bukidnon Provincial DRRMCouncil and the concerned Municipal DRRMCouncils will continue to augment personnel and provide food assistance to the volunteers.
