30 July 2018- The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) holds the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2018 Closing Ceremony at the NDRRMC Operations Center, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

OCD led the awarding of winners for the nationwide contests held in observance of this year’s NDRM with the theme, “KATATAGAN AS KALAMIDAD ay Makakamtan Kapag Sapat ang Kaalaman sa Kahandaan”. Top three winners for the Theme-writing, Poster-making and Essay-writing contests were recognized as well as the top 12 finalists for the 3rd Resilience Mobile Photography Contest. The top three and most popular photo winners for the mobile photography contest were announced during the awarding ceremony.

DND Undersecretary of National Defense Cardozo M Luna graced the activity as guest of honor and speaker. He also led the confernment of awards together with NDRRMC Executive Director and Civil Defense Administrator Usec Ricardo B Jalad. The awarding ceremony was attended by DND and OCD key officials.

In his message Usec Luna highlighted the importance of preparedness in building disaster resilient communities.

“We want our people to adopt the culture of preparedness-we want them to fully grasp that sound preparation before any crisis strikes is vital to maintaining order during its occurrence,” says Usec Luna.

Winning outputs shall be featured in the official social media accounts and institutional publication of OCD and NDRRMC. Attached is the list of winners in the Theme-writing, Poster-making, Essay-writing and Resilience Mobile Photography Contests including the finalists.
